2015 Fountain County Event

We just wanted to let you know to set aside time on April 24, 2015 for the annual Fountain County Senior Celebration.  We will again be holding the event at the 4-H Fairgrounds near Veedersburg.  Keep your eyes open for more information and if you signed up at the last event be looking for your postcard.

Prescription Drug Use & What You Can Do

PRESCRIPTION DRUG USE AND WHAT YOU CAN DO

      Over-the-counter and prescription drug misuse and abuse is a problem in Fountain County. Fountain County Local Coordinating Council along with local law enforcement joins a nationwide effort to combat prescription drug abuse. It is estimated that 48 million people – about 20 percent of the U.S. population – have used prescription drugs illegally. Prescription drugs are abused more frequently than illegal drugs and the most common item stolen from a home is prescription medication.
    
     The Fountain County Sheriff’s Department will be at the 2012 Senior Celebration with the mobile drug box on Tuesday, April 24th from 10 am to 1 pm. If you have expired medications or unused prescriptions, you may bring them to the 4-H grounds for them to be disposed of.

     For more information about the Fountain Co. Local Coordinating Council (Drug Free Coalition) please contact Kathy Walker at 793-4881 or kwalker@capwi.org. The mission of the coalition is to improve the quality of life in Fountain County by creating county-wide awareness of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) issues and reducing abuse of and dependency on these substances through prevention/education, treatment/intervention, and criminal justice.

Senior Celebration!

On Tuesday, April 24th from 10:00 to 1:00 at the Fountain County 4-H Fairground, we invite anyone 55 years old older from Warren, Fountain, and Benton Counties to enjoy themselves and learn more about resources in our area. The 4-H fairground is located at 476 W. US 136 in Veedersburg, Indiana. Lunch will be provided to the attendees and everyone will have a chance to talk to vendors about services specific to their needs. There will be special speakers, entertainment and a chance to win a fabulous prize. More details will be coming soon but feel free to leave a comment with any questions.
